Twenty-two-year-old Allison Bohmann has been getting lots of attention south of the border.

Some talent scouts found her website and some of her songs are now getting played on several American radio stations. She has also recently been nominated for New Music Weekly's New Top 40 artist.

“It's really cool, it's exciting, and it's overwhelming but I wish that more people were playing it here too.

It is exciting that they are being so supportive of me,” said Bohmann.

Allison just released her Christmas song “Santa went Hollywood”. Her songs “Living in a Nightmare” and “Over the Edge” have also been getting great reviews. Bohmann writes all her own songs.

“Everything that happens to me gets put in a song. It's kind of weird to some people but it's my life,” said Bohman, who adds music has always been a big part of her life.

“My mom comes from a very musical family. I grew up with uncles playing guitar and touring, and she is an amazing piano player and singer.”

Bohmann's five-year-plan includes a tour of the states next summer, forming a band, and getting a record deal.

She performs January 27th at the Rawlinson Centre.
