Funding Available to Aboriginal and Non Governmental Orgs who Support Breaking Intergenerational Cycles of Violence

Dec 8, 2010 | 12:15 PM

On October 29, 2010, the Government of Canada announced seven concrete steps to address the disturbingly high number of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and to make Aboriginal communities safer.

For more information, see the news release at: http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/news-nouv/nr-cp/2010/doc_32560.html.

One of those steps involves new funding available to Aboriginal organizations, and non-government organizations working in partnership with Aboriginal organizations, to support the development, revision, translation or distribution of awareness materials or other awareness activities that contribute to breaking intergenerational cycles of violence and abuse in Aboriginal communities, leading Aboriginal women and children to face higher risks of violence.

Funds must be spent by March 31, 2011.
