Regina police investigate murder of teenage boy

Police are investigating the murder of a 16-year-old boy in the North Central neighbourhood in Regina.

The killing took place Friday night around 9:30 p.m. near Montague Street and 5th Avenue.

CPR was performed on the victim, but he died from his injuries in hospital a short time later. His identity is not being released.

Police will not release the specifics of the teen's injuries, saying it's to protect the investigation. They are in the process of questioning witnesses and others about what happened.

“Our investigators will explore the possibility of anything gang-related in this case. It’s hasn’t been ruled out, but it also hasn’t been confirmed,” said Elizabeth Popowich with the Regina Police Service.
