Robert Latimer receives full parole

Robert Latimer will be granted full parole as of December 6th.

The Wilkie farmer gained nation-wide attention for the carbon-monoxide poisoning of his severely disabled daughter, Tracy in 1993. He insisted it was a mercy killing and was convicted of second degree murder, sentenced to life in prison.

“He is not ready to speak about his feelings or his terms of release, he would rather maintain a measure of privacy for himself and his family,” said Latimer's Vancouver lawyer, Jason Gratl.

In speaking to Newstalk Radio, Latimer's wife, Laura Latimer, simply said she was happy about the news. Robert Latimer was released from prison in February 2008 and has split time between an apartment and a halfway house in Victoria, BC.
