The Canadian Western Agribition had another successful year in Regina as it wrapped up on Saturday.
CEO and General Manager Jason Pollock is happy that so many people turned out, despite the cold, snowy weather.
“The weather was a challenge, there’s no question with respect to grounds. Keeping the grounds free of snow, keeping anyone, everywhere free of snow (and) keep people coming on grounds,” said Pollock.
This year was the Agribition's 40th celebration and Pollock says one of the biggest highlights was the number of international attendees.
“We had 778 guests representing 82 countries. That is a record number since we’ve been keeping tally on that, since 1999.”
Pollock thinks it is a huge success to have those kinds of numbers because the Agribition's mission statement is all about being an international livestock show.
Unfortunately, he says regular show attendance was lower than usual by a few per cent this year and thinks the colder weather might have scared off a few people.
“The summary I can give is that the first half of the week was tough, and I’m not sure that we’ll make that whole amount up in the last half, but we’re making good progress.”
