PAEx counts another successful year

It's been another successful year for the Prince Albert Exhibition Association.

Financial statements were presented at the association's annual general meeting Tuesday night.

The non-profit organization is known in the city for its many functions including the various trade shows and the summer fair.

The fair is the biggest financial project within the fiscal year and makes up about one third of the association’s overall revenue.

Dave Young with the Prince Albert Exhibition Association said they made out alright, despite bad weather affecting a few events throughout the year.

“You know a lot of our events are outdoors and Mother Nature dictates and we play by her rules. If she's not going to allow us to do it, then we don't do it,” Young said.

“For the shows that we cancelled and what we put on, we were actually above average.”

The association is the oldest continuing agricultural society in Saskatchewan and they continue to run things smoothly — last year's financial numbers were very similar.

There is some change in the association going into the next year. Katie Wilson and Darlene Rowden will begin a three-year term on the associations board.

“They are two, brand-new board members and that's going to be a very positive thing for this association,” Young said.

Young summed up the 2010 year by saying the Prince Albert Exhibition is in good shape and they are continuing business as usual.
