Raiders fall to the first place Winterhawks
Prince Albert, SK- The Prince Albert Raiders fall 8-2 to the first place Portland Winterhawks.
The Prince Albert Raiders jumped out to a quick 2 goal lead scoring on their first 2 shots of the game. Jonathan Parker opened the scoring at 1:20 if the first period when he skated cross ice into the high slot and wristed the puck on net that beat Keith Hamilton to take a 1-0 lead. The Raiders would go up by 2 when a Ryan Button point shot was blocked and redirected onto the stick of Mark McNeill who tapped it into an empty net past the out of position Hamilton.
Portland would respond with 3 goals before the first period was over ending Eric William's who was replaced with Jamie Tucker at 12:47 of the first period. It was 3-2 for the Winterhawks heading into the second.
It was the special teams that took over in the latter 2 periods of the game seeing each of the next 6 Winterhawk goals scored either on the power play or shorthanded. Portland would end the game going 3/6 on the power play and scoring 2 shorthanded goals to take the 8-2 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders.
