New funding for municipality growth

Funding is being handed out by the Planning for Growth Initiative to 52 municipalities across the province to help with work on nine projects.
Municipal Affairs minister, Darryl Hickie, said local communities such as Lloydminster, Turtleford and Edam will be using their funding to hire a planner.
“If there’s a lack of capacity through the funding for a professional kind of responsibility for a planner or such than a group of municipalities can group together and hire someone,” he said.
The funding comes from a combination of the Gas Tax Fund and the provincial government, and it equals up to about 1.1 million dollars.
