PA Ski Club and PA Cosmo team up for Diabetes

Nov 12, 2010 | 8:15 AM

The Prince Albert Cosmopolitan men’s club and the Prince Albert Ski Club have teamed up to run a ski-a-thon of sorts as a fund raiser.

It will be called the “PASC Cosmo Classic Loppet”, (Cosmo Classic for short,). It will take place at Prince Albert Little Red River Park on Sun, Jan. 16, 2011, at 11:00A.M. The charity of choice for this year at least, is Diabetes.

Folks who just want a great ski, but aren’t real eager to raise pledges can just enter and ski like any other loppet.

The loppet is being organized by a committee made up of Ski Club and Cosmo Club members.

On the committee are: Ski club members Lynn Phaneuf, Bill Jeffery, and Mike Horn, and from the Cosmo club, Norm Horne, Clare Middleton, and Art Brassard.

Bernie Dupuis is Chairing the committee. He is a member of both clubs. The group wants this to be both a great ski event and a great fund-raiser. Any club members who would like to help with preparations or running the loppet call Bernie at 764-2314, or any of the other committee members.

Entry fee will be refunded to any participants bringing in a minimum of $50.00 in pledges to Diabetes Canada.

Substantial prizes will be awarded to participants with the most pledges. Diabetes Canada will issue tax receipts for individual pledges $15.00 and greater.

There will be a stew and bannock meal at the Cosmo Lodge after skiing.  We will try to have a pledge form available on the web site, along with the loppet entry form. For the more ambitious fund raisers, go to http://www.diabetes.ca/get-involved/myfundraiser/

This is a page of the Diabetes Canada web site. You can register yourself, and show the PASC-Cosmo Classic Loppet as your event. Once registered, there are a lot of really neat tools you can use to help you get your pledges.

Watch the ski club web site for more details.
