Raiders fall 5-2

The Prince Albert Raiders fall 5-2 against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

It was a span of 2 minutes and 45 seconds in the 2nd period where the Seattle Thunderbirds 3 scored 3 power play goals that put the game out of reach for the Raiders.

Seattle opened the scoring early in the first period when Colin Jacobs came off the bench with speed and received a pass at the Raider blue line. He carried the puck into the slot and rifled a wrist shot past Eric Williams.

The Raiders responded though at 7:30 of the first period when Justin Maylan broke down the right side being pursued by two Seattle defenders and hit Mark McNeill with a pass after he beat his man to the net. McNeill made a nifty move and put the puck top shelf with his back hand to tie the game at 1.

It was the Raiders again scoring at 11:42 of the first period when Sebastian Svendsen picked up the loose puck after a broken play and fired a quick wrist shot on net that beat Calvin Picard low on the glove side.

The Thunderbirds would add a shorthanded goal before the period was over to tie the game at 2 heading into the second.

The game remained tied until the 8:29 when the Raiders found themselves in some penalty trouble and the 3rd ranked power play in the league went to work. Seattle scored 3 power play goals in the span of 2 minutes and 45 seconds making it a 5-2 hockey game that would prove to be all that was needed to put the game away.
