NDP wants landlords to disclose bedbug issues
Saskatchewan's NDP is hoping to tackle the growing problem of bed bugs in apartment buildings.
The opposition has introduced a proposed amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act so renters can know whether there have been issues with bed bugs.
MLA Cam Broten's bill would require that landlords inform prospective tenants of any bed bug infestations within the last three years.
“If I was moving into an apartment complex that had bed bugs I would want to know,” said Broten. He believes it would encourage landlords to deal with infestations when they happen.
