The gas station being built on the corner of 22nd Street and Sixth Avenue is causing concerns for residents in the area.

A meeting was held between those living behind the proposed gas station and Trevor Ives of Peter Ballantyne Developments Limited.

The kind of traffic there will be on the gravel lane between their homes and the gas station was an issue raised by William McKay at the meeting.

“Before when it was a small gas station, that back alley was a race track. And I can see with something like this going in there now, that alley is going to have way more traffic,” McKay said.

An agreement was made to put in a speedbump on the dirt road.

Amy Honch said she’s upset that the power poles have been moved from the gas station’s side of the gravel lane to theirs without notice.

“In our case, it took out a parking spot, and they’re bigger, taller, and one is crooked,” said Honch.

“I can’t speak for the SaskPower issues. They decided when the work was done, they decided where the power poles are going,” Ives said.

Honch also requested a change to the height of the fence that will be built between the station and the lane.

“Eight feet would make me feel a lot more comfortable. It’s a lot harder to scale eight feet than six,” said Honch.

Ives agreed to the request.

While the residents and Ives couldn’t agree on everything, many were pleased with how the meeting went, and Ives encouraged them to contact him if there were any further issues.
