The teenage boy charged with the violent assault on a Prince Albert cab driver is back in custody.

The 14-year-old boy was arrested by RCMP in Big River on Nov. 4, said Prince Albert police during a press conference today.

His arrest came the day after he didn’t show up for his aggravated assault trial in Prince Albert.
Sgt. Kelly McLean said he was glad to see the youth back in custody.

“I'm glad he's remanded and I'm glad he'll be held until his next court appearance.”

The boy will appear in provincial court on Nov.12, where he's expected to be additionally charged with failing to appear.

The Checker Taxi driver in this case received more than 100 stiches and several lost teeth when he was beaten with a machete back in April.

The attack resulted in Checker Taxi installing protective shields in several of their vehicles.
