Tourism Sask pushing provincial government for more recognition

Tourism Saskatchewan is pushing the provincial government for more recognition — but are not necessarily asking for money.

CEO Lynda Haverstock claims the organization is only asking the government to take it more seriously.

She says the most important thing that needs to be done is for our leaders to how important tourism is.

“This is a huge part of not just the economy, but the way in which people feel about themselves and how we're perceived elsewhere,” she said.

She claims it is a bad decision for leaders to leave out representatives from tourism, especially when it involves getting a step ahead of their rivals.

“When policy decision are being made, we would like to be included in decision before legislation is developed,” Haverstock said.

Haverstock believes if the government is willing to give tourism more recognition, then as a province we're already moving forward to a better tourism future.
