A big night for local artists and the Kiwanis Club

It’s one of the biggest annual fundraisers for the Kiwanis Club of Prince Albert.
The 32nd Annual Kyla Art Show and Sale presented by the Kiwanis Club takes place at the E. A. Rawlinson Centre on Nov. 7.
The event opens its doors at 7 p.m., but according to John Lothnan, Kiwanis treasurer, there is a chance to meet some of the artists and preview their work during an afternoon meet and greet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
There are about 25 local artists involved in the Kyla Club, which represents art mediums from acrylic painting to wood working to ceramics.
Though every year is slightly different, according to John Lothnan, Kiwanis treasurer, the Kyla Art Show and Sale raises about $5,000 to $6,000 each year.
“All art that is on display at the show is up for sale and the artists do make a lot of sales,” Lothnan said.
The Kiwanis Club of Prince Albert uses funds to make possible events like the Prince Albert Kiwanis Music Festival, projects like the Alfred Jenkins Centre and scholarships for high school graduates. A Grade 12 proficiency scholarship is given to each school in the city.
There are only 625 total tickets and while tickets will be sold at the door, they are also being pre-sold at the Rawlinson Centre. Admission is $18 per person.
