Live stalk producers in northeastern parts of the province affected by the past summer’s constant rain are getting a bit of a break when it comes to taxes.
The Federal government has announced tax deferrals for a number of rural municipalities including Buckland, Prince Albert and Birch Hills.
The announcement means eligible producers can hold off on income tax on the sale of breeding live stalk for one year. Depending on how much a heard has been reduced producers can claim from 30 to 90 per cent of their income from net sales.
It’s hoped this will help producers replenish stock for the following year.
Producers should contact the Canada Revenue Agency Tax Services Office for details.
