Fewer people in Saskatchewan were working last month.

StatsCan says the province lost 1,000 jobs, as the jobless rate climbed from 5.5 to 5.7 per cent.

The agency reports a large shift from part-time to full-time employment, a loss of 10,000 part-time jobs nearly offset by 9,000 more full-time positions.

The unemployment rate is still second lowest of the 10 provinces.

Manitoba recorded a rate of 5.2 per cent. The national unemployment rate was 7.9 per cent.
