Saskatchewan Roughriders in playoff mode to play Edmonton Eskimos

Nov 5, 2010 | 4:47 PM

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are in playoff mode heading into Saturday's game against the Edmonton Eskimos — and they need to be as they look to dump this four game skid they're on with one more game left before the post season.

The players are treating this last game as the most important of the year seeing as Edmonton very well could be their playoff opponent in the West semi-final.

Defensive back Lance Frazier says they need some swagger heading into the post season.

“There's a certain feeling within a ball club at this time of the year,” said Frazier. “It's a feeling of confidence and kind of a swagger that you know you're a good football team. You almost want to give off the impression that nobody wants to face you. We're definitely not that right now.”

Quarterback Darian Durant says a win heading to the playoffs will be just what the team needs to erase any doubts.

“We just need to get a win,” said Durant. “We're going to do everything we can to make that happen. We're trying to make sure we're going into the playoffs playing pretty good football and that's the goal.”

Rookie linebacker Byron Bullock looks to be getting a few reps with injuries to Sean Lucas and Daniel Francis. He looks forward to getting in and stopping Eskimos running back Daniel Porter who torched the team last game to the tune of 121 rush yards.

“He's a really good running back, real shifty and quick,” said Bullock. “I believe our defense is very talented. I believe we can stop him, make adjustments like we have and basically go out there and shut him down.”

Defensive backs Sean Lucas and Daniel Francis are out with injuries. Taking their spots will be defensive tackle Rodrique Wright and has you read linebacker Byron Bullock.

Kick-off is 5 p.m. on Saturday. You can also catch the game on TSN.
