The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour re-elected President Larry Hubich on Saturday afternoon at the 55th SFL Convention in Regina.

Hubich won out over contender Tom Graham, leader of CUPE Saskatchewan, by more than 200 votes.

He acknowledges that Graham had a lot of support, but was happy to know that he had a little bit more.
“In that regard, I feel very good about the level of support because it illustrates that the support that I have is broad based and across many affiliates” he said.

This is Hubich’s fifth consecutive term as president of the SFL and Graham doesn’t have any hard feelings about losing.

“Well, I came in second — I don’t think that’s too bad,” he commented. “Larry won, the democratic process happened and this delegation spoke and they made their decision, and therefore it is the right decision.”

Graham said he is looking forward to everyone leaving the convention still standing united for their rights.

Hubich said he was looking along the same lines himself.

“Obviously, [we’re] continuing to pursue our legislative legal challenges, as well as working at building solidarity inside the labour movement.”

This two-year term for Hubich also includes participating in a provincial government election next fall.
