Few turn out for “Save Our Potash Stash” rally in Saskatoon
For one of the hottest issues in Saskatchewan right now, organizers of a rally to halt a foreign takeover of PotashCorp are confused why so few people turned out.
Only a handful of protesters gathered Saturday afternoon outside Saskatoon City Hall to throw their support behind the provincial government's lead in disapproving of BHP Billiton's takeover bid. Planning only started a few days ago, but Mike Fornssler expected a much higher attendance.
“For me it's about personal satisfaction being able to say I tried to do something to stop a bad deal for Saskatchewan. Even if I fail miserably at least I'll be able to say I tried to do something,” said Fornssler.
He thinks many people aren't willing to fight to prevent a takeover of PotashCorp because Premier Brad Wall is already leading the charge.
