Children involved in accident recovering

The children involved in the highway 55 fatal accident are doing better.

The six-year-old girl and 13-month-old boy have been moved from the pediatric intensive care unit to the pediatric ward.

“We can assume that being moved from intensive care into the general ward is a good sign and it's a positive sign,” said Bill Chow with the Prince Albert Police Service.

The accident occurred two weeks ago when 19-year-old Roberta Sewap veered into the wrong lane and collided head on with an SUV. She was killed in the accident.

The children were in the car with her, as well as her cousin, 22-year-old Roxanne Sewap. Roxanne was released from the hospital that evening.

The 57-year-old woman, who was driving the SUV, remains in Victoria Hospital.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the accident. Alcohol has been ruled out.
