Men and women killed during the military mission in Afghanistan were honoured in Regina on Saturday afternoon.
A new plaque was unveiled at the Saskatchewan War Memorial on the grounds of the legislature commemorating the names of 15 young men and women died in Afghanistan during the war, but previously lived in Saskatchewan.

One of the names is Spiritwood man, Dustin Wasden. He was killed by a roadside bomb two years ago.
Chief of the Defence Staff General Walt Natynczyk says it's important to honour them.
“It’s very humbling to be here today and to share this with all the families so they know that their loved one’s service and sacrifice will never be forgotten by our country,” he said.
Three people with Saskatchewan roots were added to the previous 12 names — Lieut. Andrew Nuttall, Lieut. Justin Boyes and former Regina Leader-Post journalist Michelle Lang.
Lang's parents were on hand to see the honour. Her father, Art, says it's still tough to accept she's gone.
“It's just — it's a loss, it's very difficult,” he said through tears. “You know, it is an honour, but it's very difficult.”
Following the ceremony, the sold out National Support Our Troops Gala was held in the evening at Evraz Place. The event raises money to support programs for those working in the Canadian Forces and their families in Saskatchewan.
