Darian Durant still a question mark for the Saskatchewan Roughriders this weekend

After injuring his ankle on Tuesday, many people are wondering if Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant will be able to play against the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.

“I came around on a follow through and my ankle hit a defensive player's shin bone and was pretty painful,” said Durant of his injury. “I feel a little bit better than I did (Tuesday)and we'll give it a shot (Thursday) and see how it feels.”

Durant is optimistic he'll be able to play.

“I'm hoping to,” said Durant. “(My ankle) feels a lot better and I hope it continues to progress. Without any setbacks I should be fine.”

Head coach Ken Miller says he'll make a decision later in the week about Durant's status. It all depends on his mobility, which obviously is a key to Durant's game.

“One of his strengths as a quarterback is his ability to move around in the pocket,” said Miller.

“His game needs that aspect of what he does. He needs to be able to move in the pocket and move out of the pocket when he wants to. For him not to have mobility would make him less effective and make him more of a target to opponent rushers.”

Until then, fans will watch to watch if Durant takes the field Thursday — that's when the team has another practice starting at 11 a.m.
