Every carpet is different and every carpet has positives and negatives you will want to consider when making a purchase. There are 4 types of Carpet Fibers to consider: is Nylon Fibers, PET (Polyester) Fibers, Polyproplene (Olefin), or PTT (Triexta Polyester)

Nylon Fiber

PROS:

* Resilient Even after being compressed for extended periods of time, nylon will retain its original shape.

* Non-absorbent Quick drying, nylon carpet absorbs less than eight percent of its weight in water.

* Easy to clean Nylon won’t hold odors.

CONS:

* Fading Fading may occur if it is exposed to direct sunlight for many years.

* Not indestructible Nylon is still susceptible to damage from bleach and urine.

PET (Polyester) Fibers

PROS:

* Comfortable: very soft to the touch

* Stain and Fade: naturally stain and fade resistant.

* Value: a great value.

CONS:

* Wearability meant for low to medium traffic areas

Polypropylene (Olefin)

PROS:

* Stain-resistant Even liquid spills are easy to clean on this material.

* Cost-effective Polypropylene is relatively inexpensive.

* Color-safe The colors you select will be the colors you keep throughout the lifespan of the carpet and does not react to bleach spills or absorb water

* Comfortable Polypropylene possesses a unique velvety feel.

CONS:

* Compresses easily

* Can become discolored if it comes into contact with oil-based products

PTT (Triexta Polyester Fibers)

PROS:

* Stain-resistant Polyester will not discolor, even from substances including red wine and pet urine.

* Inexpensive

* Easy to clean and maintain

CONS:

* Compresses under heavy loads

* Less resilient

* Oil can bond to the fibers causing discoloration this can lead to premature wearing.
