Savages

“Savages” truly lives up to its name. This is a very violent movie; but if you can get past the blood and torture, it's actually not a bad movie. John Travolta, Salma Hayek, and Benicio Del Toro all give really strong acting performances.

The plot of the movie is as follows: two guys who run their own independent marijuana grow op business get caught up in the Mexican drug war. When they reject an offer by one of the cartels (run by Salma Hayek) to form a partnership, the woman they love is kidnapped. The two guys then set out to get her back.

As I mentioned above this is a very violent movie. There is not a lot left to the imagination. I even found myself wanting to look away a few times. I don't object so much to the violence as I do to the time given to try and draw sympathy to all the characters. At times it gets confusing and the movie seems to go off track. Overall I did feel I got my money's worth. It's probably a better renter but not one you will regret seeing.
