Elimination Chamber in need of attitude adjustment

Feb 20, 2012 | 9:02 AM

The Elimination Chamber is the WWE’s last pay-per-view before Wrestlemania. In year’s past, it has been filled with hooks and special twists, to build up the hype for Wrestlemania. While last night’s show was okay, it left me—and many others in the theatre, wanting more.

Highs …

1) John Cena vs. Kane was a decent match overall. Cena giving Kane an attitude adjustment off the top of the ambulance was a nice finish. Both men made good use of the props around the ring and backstage area. I especially liked the when Kane nailed Cena with the laptop. Okay, so who left their laptop just lying around? I bet you are sorry now. I don’t think that is covered under warranty.

2) Santino Marella … one of the biggest pops of the night goes to the Smackdown underdog. While the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match was fairly dull, Marella definitely had the crowd wondering if there would be an upset.

3) Beth Phoenix vs Tamina … wow the women’s division is actually gaining some credibility. Will Karma be back for Wrestlemania?

Lows …

1) John Laurinaitus proclaiming he should GM of both Smackdown and Raw……huh? Who thought this would make for a good segment? What a waste of ppv time. I’d rather watch a Great Khali iron man match. Why was Undertaker’s challenge for HHH saved for RAW?

2) Swagger vs. Justin Gabriel … this match was thrown together out of nowhere. It almost felt like the producers realized they needed to fill some time so they threw this match in (okay you two guys go!!!!).

3) Great Khali…..why was Khali even in this match? The two minutes he was in the match, he was able to impress us with his standard three moves.

**okay I am going to add one more; and it has nothing to do with the actual ppv. Why is there only one person working the concession while the movies and ppv are playing. I went out to get some snacks (long lines when I came in), only to be greeted by another long line with one person working the counter. It seems I was not the only one in need of refreshment.

Overall I rate this pay-per-view 6/10. The opening match and main event were great. Punk vs. Jericho should be an epic match for Wrestlemania. Santino and Cena received the loudest pops of the night. The rest of the show though was really nothing more than could have been done on Raw.

In the next few days I will be going out to see “Ghost Rider”. It looked like it was very well attended over the weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts on it? I thought the first one was pretty cheesy.

'til next time movie fans,
