Nov 18, 2016 | 12:06 PM

A2Z Safety &Training, conveniently located in downtown Prince Albert, works to provide job seekers the certificates they need to achieve their goals.

Classes are offered at their training facility in an astounding amount of subjects, everything from major certifications such as H2S Alive (Enform Certified), Fall Protection, First Aid, and Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) to more niche certificates like Wilderness Survival, Trapping, or Fishing Guide Training. They are for those seeking a specific certification for employment and for those interested in expanding their repertoire for future opportunities.

“That’s one of the reasons why I called it A2Z in the first place, the array of different programs and services we offer blows people away,” owner Trevor Montgomery says.

Given the breadth of courses offered, their availability is constantly expanding and changing to meet the requirements of jobs in the area and as instructors become available. If they don’t have a specific course on their schedule, they’ll try to find an instructor to teach it. If you’re looking for a specific certification you can be confident A2Z will offer it in the near future because they aren’t the sort of company to send someone elsewhere for a course.

They offer on-site training as well, training employees on the fly so they can achieve their workplace goals.

A2Z instructors are the best in the business since they’ve all spent significant time in the fields they teach. “It’s not just a job to our instructors,” office manager Elizabeth Montgomery says. “They have a passion to teach.” Many instructors teach multiple courses, bringing their wide range of knowledge to the table.

Given their location in the Gateway City, A2Z works extensively with Aboriginal communities in and around Prince Albert through their B.A.L.A.N.C.E. program.

It stands for Bridging Aboriginal Lifestyles and New Career Experiences. The course is for individuals who have either never been employed or struggle to keep employment.

“It’s a great base for people,” Elizabeth says. The course mixes life and employment skills to make sure employees have the job skills to be hired and the life skills to maintain and continue their employment.

So far the program has been incredibly successful and has had led to other training courses which boast high graduation rights.

Understanding many coming to A2Z may be suffering financial hardships from a lack of employment, they’ll do what they can to make sure clients can afford the training. There are a number of different avenues they utilize to help students in need of financial assistance, which means anyone in search of new employment skills won’t be limited by lack of funds.

“We aren’t the type to leave someone behind,” Trevor says.

If you’re looking to expand your employment options, A2Z Safety & Training is the one-stop for training, safety services, safety consulting, and drug and alcohol testing.
