Best Golf Course: Mark’s Nine Golf and Country Club

Oct 5, 2015 | 3:45 PM

Mark’s Nine Golf and Country Club provides a fun but challenging nine-hole executive golf course that everyone can enjoy.

Family owned and operated the Cartier family first opened Mark’s 9 Golf and Country Club 23 years ago and since then it has continued to gain a reputation for being the best place to golf in Prince Albert and area. The course, which is nestled in the pines and situated on the family’s old farm yard is popular for its well manicured conditions and ease of play.

Mark Cartier came up with the idea to turn the family farm into a golf course and with Gary Brandon, his nephew’s design, Mark and son Cam Cartier and wife Wendy they managed to develop the course over a two-year period. The current clubhouse was once the family barn and the beautiful patio view at the back of the clubhouse that visitors can now look out upon and enjoy was once a riding arena.

Popular for work or family events the golf course caters to all types of functions.

“We get a lot of business parties and family reunions,” said Laurale Cartier, co-owner of Mark’s Nine Golf and Country Club. “We are a family run facility that has been around for years and has many returning customers because people feel at home here.”

“A lot of people really think that the facility is unique the way our deck looks over our golf course it’s a pretty nice view.”

Once a month the golf course hosts its own tournaments that usually fill up fairly quickly they include the June scramble, men’s night, ladies scramble, cam sack open, timberline/beeline, the couples, men’s night wind up, and the ladies night wind up.

At the end of the season they also hold their final annual blow out tournament the Slobstick before shutting down for the winter.

Whether you are just stopping in for a round of golf, a beverage or a bite to eat from their catered barbeque the staff at Mark’s 9 Golf Course promises a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.  From their beverage cart plus club and cart rentals they offer everything needed to enjoy a great day of golf.

“It’s like one big happy family that is how our members would describe it here,” said Cartier.

Marks’s 9 Golf Course and Country Club is a five-minute drive north of Prince Albert. From spring until the end of the season, just after Thanksgiving weekend the golf course is open seven days a week.
