Less water than expected through Saskatchewan dams

Jun 23, 2011 | 6:58 AM

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority (SWA) says there is less water going into the Boundary and Rafferty dams, and water levels have dropped by about a foot.

Dale Hjertaas of the SWA says while that is good news, there is still a long ways to go.

“We’re certainly not out of the woods yet. It is too early to say the worst has passed. If another big rain event happened later in the week, levels would get back up to where they originally were. So it just depends how much it rains,” said Hjertass.

Hjertaas says the SWA will closely monitor Estevan, one of the hardest hit cities.
