Goodale aims to protect producer loading sites

Saskatchewan's lone Liberal MP has introduced a bill in Parliament that would help preserve producer-car loading sites across western Canada.

According to Ralph Goodale, railway companies have been accelerating their closure.

There are fewer than 300 left, down from more than 700 in 1999.

These sites, located along railway sidings, enable Prairie grain producers to load their own rail cars for shipment to export, instead of being forced to deal with established grain elevator companies
