Police in pursuit of Grinch

Jan 21, 2019 | 1:21 PM

Police have now released a picture of the person they believe was responsible for stealing letters and packages from the post office in Leask, just two days before Christmas.

Some of the Christmas cards contained cash. The recycling bin at the post office was also stolen and used to carry the stolen items.

According to a post Monday on the Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers Facebook page, the stolen mail was found early in the new year but only the garbage remained. A receipt for $1,200 was also found. The amount was used to purchase gift cards in Saskatoon at a local convenience store.

The suspect’s image was captured in part by the store’s security camera. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers or the RCMP.
