RM of Prince Albert confirms byelection date

Residents in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Prince Albert will elect a new Reeve this spring.

The byelection date has been set for June 12. The advanced polls will take place four days earlier and anyone who wishes to run for the position has until May 8 to submit their nomination papers.

The byelection was needed after the resignation of Paul Rybka last month.

A third party investigator found Rybka had engaged in conduct contrary to the RM’s code of ethics. Bylaw 15 prohibits a Reeve from using their position to obtain a private benefit in the form of a loan or line of credit.

Richard Wilson has been appointed the Deputy Reeve.
