UPDATE: Missing Maidstone woman found deceased

A tragic outcome to the search for a mssing woman from Maidstone.

Amanda Michayluk,34, was found deceased Thursday by civilians who were assisting with the search and rescue operation.

According to an RCMP media release Saturday morning Michayluk was found in a farmer's field.

The Maidstone RCMP investigation determined Michayluk had attempted to walk home early Thursday morning during a snow storm and got lost while walking southbound in deep snow on a non-maintained grid road in white out conditions.

She was located about four kilometres from where she was last seen walking.

It appeared she died of exposure and hypothermia and no foul play was suspected according to the police.

In the media statement the family and Maidstone RCMP thanked Maidstone Fire & Rescue, Maidstone EMS, Lloydminster Rescue Squad, Saskatchewan Coroner's Office and the friends and family who helped with the Search and Rescue .


A woman who was out collecting firewood with her father and walked to go get help after their vehicle got stuck in the snow has not been heard from since.

Amanda Michayluk, 34, was reported missing Thursday from a rural location about five kilometres south of Maidstone. 

Maidstone RCMP said in a media release that officers followed her footprint's in the snow to a nearby range road, where it appeared she was picked up by an unknown vehicle.

Michayluk is five-foot-nine-inches tall, weighs 115 pounds and has a thin build, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has glasses and was wearing a denim ski-doo suit, toque and winter boot.

Police said she requires medication which she does not have with her.
