Mintos captain signs deal with Blades

Alex Ozar has been signed by the Saskatoon Blades to a Western Hockey League standard player agreement.

The 16-year-old becomes the fifth player from Saskatoon’s 2017 draft class to sign a contract. Dan Tencer, the Director of Scouting for the Saskatoon Blades, said in a statement Ozar plays the game with a very high hockey intelligence.

“He’s able to quickly process the game and has the ability to execute plays at a high pace in all situations,” he said. 

In his second season with the Mintos, Ozar has five goals and 16 assists for a total of 21 points. As a rookie last season, Ozar put up 31 points in 44 games.

“We’re proud of the work that he’s put in and we’re excited to have him as part of our future plans,” Tencer said.

The Mintos begin the second half of their season on Saturday, hosting the Moose Jaw Generals at the Art Hauser Centre.
