Assault charge stayed against former Montreal Lake band manager

Nov 30, 2018 | 4:00 PM

An assault charge against a former band manager with the Montreal Lake Cree Nation has been stayed.

Mark Anthony D’Amato previously faced one count of assault stemming from an alleged incident earlier this year involving a band councillor. The assault charge was stayed earlier this month in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

D’Amato’s defence lawyer declined to comment on the matter, and the Crown did not return a request for comment.

D’Amato handled the finances for the Montreal Lake Cree Nation. The assault case was referred to the Alternative Measures program in April, but that plan fell through.
