The semi driver was not injured in the incident.

Prince Albert RCMP are continuing their investigation after a semi-truck collided with a car Thursday morning on Highway 3 west of the city.

One person was taken to hospital after the collision and the highway was closed until late in the afternoon as RCMP investigated.

Sgt. Lyle Korczak told paNOW that the investigation has a number of people involved with it.

“We had a collision reconstructionist come out, to basically analyze the scene take measurements and is assisting with the investigation,” he said.

Korczak explained that a collision analyst is called in when the incident is deemed to be of a certain severity.

“In the majority of circumstances it’s usually when it’s fatal, but if it’s a serious accident, you know with severe injuries and what not, that’s when we’ll make a request for a collision analyst,” he said.

Korczak said the next stage of the investigation into the collision is waiting for the report from the reconstruction analyst.

“Well (We’re) basically waiting on the report from the analyst to go from there and just gathering a few more statements,” he said.

Prince Albert RCMP was not able to provide a specific number in terms of how many people have been interviewed for the investigation. Korczak said it could take up to one month before a full report from the collision analyst is ready.

It has not been determined whether road or weather conditions played a role in the collision.
