Marauders boys lose first; Crusaders girls 3-0 at provincials

Nov 16, 2018 | 11:07 PM

Three Prince Albert high school teams are battling hard at SHSAA 5A Provincials this weekend.

At the 5A Boys Provincials in Prince Albert, the St. Mary Marauders sit at 2-1 after their first three pool games.

They fell to Saskatoon Holy Cross in straight sets in their evening matchup. That came after the Marauders defeated Yorkton in three tight sets and Balgonie Greenall in two sets.

Their last pool game will be at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, 11:15 a.m. against Regina Riffel.

At the 5A Girls Provincials in Saskatoon, the Carlton Crusaders are undefeated after their first three games.

They beat Saskatoon Holy Cross in straight sets, Balgonie Greenall in three sets and a two-setter over North Battleford. They’ll play Regina Campbell at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday to wrap up their pool play.

The Marauders girls can’t seem to get any luck. They lost all three of their matches in rubber-match sets, falling to Weyburn, Swift Current and Saskatoon Bishop Mahoney. The Marauders will play Regina Winston Knoll at 11:15 a.m. for their last group match.
