Guhle and Team Canada Red move on to U-17 semifinals

Prince Albert Raider Kaiden Guhle and Team Canada Red have made it to the semifinals at the 2018 World Under-17 Challenge.

Canada Red defeated the United States 2-1 in overtime Thursday in Quispamsis, N.B. to get to the semifinals.

Guhle, Canada Red’s captain, got the primary assist on his team’s first goal of the contest—his third in four tournament games. Matthew Maggio of the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s scored the goal on the power play.

Elliot Desnoyers of the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats scored in overtime.

Canada Red will play their semifinal matchup against Finland on Friday.

The other Prince Albert Raider in the tournament, Ozzy Wiesblatt and Team Canada Black, were defeated by Sweden 4-2.

Wiesblatt, who’s the assistant captain for Canada Black, has a goal in four tournament games. Canada Black will take on Canada White for a placement game on Friday.
