Their goal is to show up locally and impact globally. A group who has made it their mission to abolish slavery held a Walk for Freedom in Prince Albert on Saturday.

The nonprofit organization A21 is described on its website as the abolitionists of the 21st century “fueled by a radical hope that human beings everywhere will be rescued from bondage.”

Prince Albert was one of 467 locations in more than 50 countries around the world that participated in the walk including Portugal, Brazil, Thailand and France. Members of Parliament for Prince Albert, Nicole Rancourt and Joe Hargrave were among the 46 participants.

“The mandate for the walk was to raise awareness to the biggest criminal industry in the world today – human trafficking,” organizer Gen Klingenberg said in an email to paNOW. “Human trafficking is not only sexual exploitation but forced labour, bonded labour, domestic servitude and even child soldiers are all forms of slavery.”
