UPDATED: Arrests made after shots fired at Montreal Lake

RCMP have released more information following an incident of shots fired in Montreal Lake Thursday morning.

They said at approximately 9 a.m. police were sent to a residence. When members from RCMP Traffic Services, Montreal Lake, Prince Albert, Sturgeon Lake and Waskesiu, detachments responded, the suspects had already fled from the residence where the shots were reportedly fired. 

A  suspect vehicle was later located and a total of five people were arrested without further incident. One firearm was also seized. All of those involved were known to each other, according to RCMP

No injuries were reported.

As a precaution, RCMP said the local daycare, school and band office were all temporarily placed in lock-down during the incident. Those were later lifted.

An investigation is ongoing.

Saskatchewan RCMP have confirmed shots were fired this morning at Montreal Lake Cree Nation, and they have “some” people in custody.
 
There are no reports of injuries. 
 
While the incident happened at a house in the community, Montreal Lake School was placed on lockdown for a period of time as a precaution, RCMP said . The lockdown has since been lifted. RCMP have told our newsroom they will provide more informatin later this afternoon.

A woman who lives in the community told paNOW she heard two gunshots, then witnessed several RCMP vehicles “zoom” to a house on Henderson Street.
