Prince Albert’s Christina Vis is bringing back a bronze medal from a Taekwondo tournament in Sydney, Australia.

Vis, a second degree black belt, took third in her sparring group at the ITF World Cup last week. Vis told paNOW she learned a lot from the experience.

“You are competing against the best from all over the world so you learn a lot from just getting to step on the floor and compete with them,” she said.

Vis is no stranger to competion, having competed at numerous provincial and national tournaments. Last fall she also had the opportuntiy to compete at the ITF Taekwondo championships in Dublin, Ireland. While happy with the end result in Sydney, Vis said she was anxious to return home and share her success with all the people who helped her.

“There are a lot of people who have been with you along the way helping you get ready and supporting you so you definitely want to do your best for them. They have put just as many hours into helping you train as you have put in so you want to do well for them,” she said.

Vis trains at LDP Martial Arts in Prince Albert, and also works as an exercise therapist at Hillside Physical Health and Fitness.
