Police recover small axe, after arresting alleged thief

A Prince Albert man, accused of carrying stolen property, as well as a short handled axe, has been scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The 24-year-old was arrested Saturday night in the Unit block of 13th. St. W.

At 9:30 p.m. police received a weapons complaint. When the police officers located the suspect, he attempted to flee on a bicycle but was soon caught after getting boxed in by the patrol vehicles. The axe was located shortly thereafter.

The suspect, whose name cannot be released until after he makes his first court appearance, has been charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and breach of court order.
