A 50-year-old woman is in critical condition in a Saskatoon hospital after apparently striking a light pole with her vehicle early Thursday morning.

According to police, a white sedan struck a light standard at Sixth Ave. and Branion Dr. shortly before 3 a.m. The crash flipped the vehicle onto its side and pinned the female driver underneath, police said.

The woman was left in critical condition and was airlifted to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon by STARS.

Although alcohol or drugs are not considered factors in the crash, police said the driver did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt.
