Jim Pattison says the broadcast group that bears his name is committed to growing in the province, region, and across the country.

On Tuesday, the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group announced the acquisitions of 105 CJVR and CK750 in Melfort, 89.5 The Drive in Chilliwack, B.C. and XM 105 FM in Whitecourt, Alta., pending CRTC approval. Speaking in North Battleford Aug. 15, Pattison said the company will continue to push for growth.

“We are very much committed to the growth in Saskatchewan,” he said. “In the Canadian prairies, and Canada.”

Rod Schween, president of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, said the acquisitions show the broadcast group is committed to continued growth.

“It’s a real big show of support for our industry and our company to keep investing, and yesterday was a real important day for these divisions and our company,” he said. “To be able to add those stations in Melfort, Whitecourt, and in Chilliwack, it’s a sign to everybody. We are a growing organization. We are very invested in our industry.”

The four radio licenses that were acquired by JPBG were previously held by Fabmar Communications Ltd., and all related assets were included in the deal. Those assets included a Saskatchewan-based outdoor signage business as well as the online news portals mychilliwacknews.com, mytowntoday.ca, and yourtownnews.ca. The acquisition of the four radio licenses and their related assets means the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group now boasts three AM stations, 44 FM stations, 16 online news sites, three TV stations and now an outdoor video signage division.
