Tire shop manager donates car to couple in need

Aug 15, 2018 | 12:00 PM

When a manager at a Prince Albert tire shop heard about a local couple’s automotive issues, he said he felt compelled to help and set them up with a car, free of charge.

Sandra Sewap said she and her husband Larry had to move from Pelican Narrows to Prince Albert for medical reasons after Larry suffered a stroke. The couple saved up to buy a vehicle so Sandra could drive Larry to his twice-weekly appointments at the Victoria Hospital, but when she purchased a van it turned out to be a lemon.

“I nearly got into an accident when that van stopped unexpectedly while I was driving,” she said. “The steering just locked and I couldn’t do anything.”

Sandra said she tried to contact the person who sold her the van after it broke down, but had no success. A member of Sewap’s family wrote a post on social media detailing the couple’s automotive issues, and the post caught the attention of Carmen Jobb, a manager at Jobb Tire in Prince Albert. Despite not knowing the couple personally, Jobb told paNOW he set Sandra and Larry up with a Ford Focus on Aug. 9 after reading their story.
