Officers with the Prince Albert Police Service seized a modified rifle from an 18-year-old and found other weapons and drugs during a traffic stop over the weekend.

Police conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Third Ave. E. Saturday afternoon. Inside, they found a crossbow, hatchet, and machete along with 12.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 45 hydromorphone pills, cash, and other prescription pills.

A 37-year-old Sturgeon Lake man was charged with three counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of drug possession, and possession of the proceeds of crime. He was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday morning.

In a second, unrelated incident from Sunday afternoon, P.A. police officers patrolling in the Midtown neighbourhood spotted an 18-year-old in breach of his probation on Ninth St. E. The suspect was arrested, and police found he was carrying a modified rifle on his person.
