SaskEnergy flare to happen this week near P.A.

Aug 8, 2018 | 10:00 AM

SaskEnergy will conduct a controlled natural gas flare this week and are letting the public know that the large flame they see is part of a standard procedure.

The flare will take place Thursday, Aug. 9 near Prince Albert along Highway 302, starting around 6 a.m. and lasting roughly an hour and a half. The area will be supervised during this time.

The flare is necessary for the company to perform scheduled maintenance and upgrade work to the natural gas line in the area. The pipeline flaring releases natural gas from the pipeline and is meant to reduce the carbon footprint of the vented natural gas by 85 per cent.

During the flare, there will be no disruption to service. All emergency personnel have been notified of the scheduled flare.
