Two Prince Albert teenagers were arrested after allegedly threatening a store employee with a knife during a robbery.

According to police, officers and a K9 unit responded to a report of a robbery in progress just after midnight Aug. 7. An employee at a store in the 2800-block of Sixth Ave. E. told officers two female suspects pulled a knife, threatened to stab him, and ran out of the business with stolen merchandise.

Patrol officers contained the area, police said, while Police Service Dog Daxa and her handler searched for the suspects. The teen suspects were found in a yard on 28th St. E. and were taken into custody, police said, and a search revealed the stolen product along with the knife used in the alleged robbery.

The two suspects, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl, were charged with robbery and were scheduled to make their first court appearances Tuesday. The suspects cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and they are presumed innocent at this stage.
