Paramedics unaffected by national EpiPen shortage

Aug 6, 2018 | 8:15 AM

In response to a national shortage of EpiPens, Parkland Ambulance is informing the public their staff will not be affected.

A press release issued by Parkland Ambulance states paramedics carry a different form of epinephrine, the medication in EpiPens. Because of this, they are not affected by the national shortage of EpiPens.

“If you or a loved one is affected please consult your pharmacist,” the release read.

Earlier this month Health Canada warned public about a national shortage of EpiPens due to manufacturing issues. Despite this warning, several pharmacies in Prince Albert told paNOW they either hadn’t heard of the shortage or they weren’t concerned by stock levels.
