The 2018 BOB Award winners have been announced.

The community’s Best of The Best in over 250 categories are voted on by the readers of paNOW.com.

Winners include people like Melissa McGregor, who has been voted P.A.’s Best Elementary School Teacher.

“It’s an honour and I know from talking with family and parents and past parents that teaching is so meaningful,” the Ecole St Anne Grade 3 teacher told paNOW.

McGregor has been teaching for 18 years. “This award is recognition for all the teachers in P.A and the province who do what they can all day for their students,” she said.

The BOB Award for Best Community Club goes to the Prince Albert Lions Club.

“It’s quite the honour,” president Garry Beaudry said. “We’ve been in town for seventy years and we’re always P.A.’s best kept secret,“ he chuckled.

Typically, the local Lions Club is underway with no fewer than three fundraising endeavours at the moment: for the eye bank, guide dogs and STARS ambulance.

The BOB Awards have become a very special annual phenomenon since their inception five years ago according to paNOW’s senior sales consultant Joe Bexson.

“It’s all about the recognition of even the smallest businesses out there who can get on the ballot if people nominate them,” he said. “The BOB Awards are really celebrated …every little business and many community folks get a chance to be recognized.”

Last year nearly 10,000 area residents participated in the nomination and voting phase and cast over half a million votes.

The BOB Awards will be presented to the recipients during a gala event next month.
